From 10 seconds to under 20 milliseconds
Redis caching in a Python app: queries roughly 500× faster.

< 20 ms
after
~500×
faster
Problem
A new internal application had slow requests: some queries took 10 seconds to return.
Decision
I put a Redis cache layer, running in Docker, in front of the Python app’s heaviest queries.
Impact
With a warm cache, the heaviest queries got about 500× faster. Afterwards I wrote a Redis-with-Docker tutorial on Medium for the team and the community.
Stack
- Python
- Redis
- Docker
